A traveling musical drama team came from Mussula, Montana to Camas. They invited all the kids in the Camas School District to try out for a part in the play. They had try outs on Monday. Practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday night and dress rehearsal on Saturday and performed Saturday evening. Melanie loves plays and really wanted to try out. I encouraged Courtney to try out too, that way I wouldn't have to run one kid to gymnastics and the other kid to play practice - (which are in two different places - one's east in Vancouver, and the others at the school south of us in Camas.) Anyway, I watched the tryouts hoping that they both didn't make it or they both made it. There were about 100 kids at the tryouts. I think there were about 40 or so parts needed.
Well, as luck would have it, Courtney made the play and Melanie didn't. Melanie cried all the way home. Poor thing as Courtney didn't really care if she got in or not. However, once she got in - I think she was pretty excited to be involved with the play and had a lot of fun. Anyways it was a busy week as I was running Melanie to gymnastics and ballet and Courtney to play practice... (just what I was trying to avoid - good thing gas is so cheap - ha!)
Courtney was an acrobat in the circus. The circus came to Jack's town, that is where he traded the cow for the magic beans. Courtney worked really hard, learned all the songs and all her lines. She really enjoyed herself. The play was really cute and we all really enjoyed it. We went after our delicious German feast.
As for Melanie someone in our ward told us about a children's play "Oliver" coming up in the next few months, so we'll have Melanie try out for that one.
Here are some pictures from the play:
