As most of you probably already know, I started a political blog. Well, it all started with the quote I read in the ensign- Ballard states in the article "Now, may I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration. Most of you already know that if you have access to the Internet you can start a blog in minutes and begin sharing what you know to be true. You can download videos from Church and other appropriate sites, including newsroom.lds.org, and send them to your friends."

So all the political talk is not really "gospel" sharing, however I do plan to start a gospel study blog in the next couple of weeks. What motivated me to start this political blog is the scripture I read in the Book of Mormon.

Alma Chapter 60:
"27 And I will come unto you, and if there be any among you that has a desire for freedom, yea, if there be even a spark of freedom remaining, behold I will stir up insurrections among you, even until those who have desires to usurp power and authority shall become extinct.
28 Yea, behold I do not fear your power nor your authority, but it is my God whom I fear; and it is according to his commandments that I do take my sword to defend the cause of my country, and it is because of your iniquity that we have suffered so much loss.
29 Behold it is time, yea, the time is now at hand, that except ye do bestir yourselves in the defence of your country and your little ones, the sword of justice doth hang over you; yea, and it shall fall upon you and visit you even to your utter destruction."

I can't literally take up the sword to defend the cause of my country, and well financially - well my little contributions don't amount to much, however I figured I could defend the cause of my country with the "pen" and post the truths that we need to defend. So that is my reason for starting the blog... In about 2 weeks, I have had almost 800 hits - so hopefully it has influenced someone. Some issues are more important than others, mainly life and family. So hopefully in these important issues it will influence people to stand for what is right.
