This year, since we are getting a new car - we decided to take a local vacation to save money also since we were having family visit us from AZ we would be able to do some fun local things with them. Don's days off are Monday and Tuesday. On Monday the 22nd we thought about going to the Oregon Aquarium. But since Don's grandmother hasn't been feeling well and her eye sight has been failing - she hasn't come to any of the family celebrations (i.e. baby showers, birthdays, train trips, etc..) so we decided to go and visit her in Newburg instead of going to the aquarium. We brought her dinner and had an nice visit with her. We sure love her.
On Tuesday (Aug 23) we decided to take the kids to the Enchanted Forest, an amusement park in Salem (about an hour from Portland). Now it is not a Disneyland, but it was fun. It has mainly rides for younger kids. We went there on Tuesday Aug. 23, which was a perfect day to go. The weather was nice - not too hot or too cold. It was not raining :) and since it was a Tuesday there were no crowds since most people work on Tuesday.
