Dayton's New Quilt

Grandpa/ma Coates & Great Grandma Coates came up to our home Sat. June 28th for Melanie & Emma's dance recital. We decided to have dinner at our home before going to the recital. Don's mom made cheese rolls with a big pot of beans for us. It was delicious. After we finished eating, we went up to Dayton's room where great Grandma Coates presented him with a quilt she had just made for him. It has been a tradition of hers to make quilts for the boys in the family. Don had a quilt just like this (different colors) when he was a boy. She gave the quilt to him & we put it on his new bed. He quickly climbed up and pulled it over his legs. He was very excited and liked it very much. Then he got off to play. We tried to get him back on the bed to take some pictures, but he was too interested in playing and not sitting on the bed. It is a beautiful quilt. And for those of you that don't know great Grandma Coates, she is 90 years old and has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands so for her to make this for Dayton was a wonderful gift of love.

I vividly remember Don's quilt just like that in blues. What a cool gift/tradition.
