Dance Recital

Melanie & Emma had their dance (ballet) recital on June 28th. Courtney didn't want to do dance this year, just gymnastics. Last year, the girls were able to take a combo class of ballet and tap. This year, they are at a new gym that doesn't combine the classes so they only took ballet (to save me the drive out since tap was on another day). They both did very well at the recital. I didn't get any pictures of them dancing with the still camera (they didn't allow camera or video cameras), however Don was able to sneak the camera in & take pictures of them dancing with the video without disturbing anyone or anyone noticing.
Melanie's dance teacher called the next week to invite her to be on the dance team this year. She said she was the only one in her class that she was asking to join & most girls she requires them to try out for the team. The team mostly does jazz & hiphop dancing. Melanie was thrilled. So she will start practicing with the dance team in Sept. She is taking a jazz/hiphop class right now to get more familiar with the dance moves. Now we use her joining dance team as a threat when she misbehaves or cries... (i.e. I guess if you don't do your job or cry or whatever we want her to do... you can't do dance.) She really wants to do dance so she stops & shapes up right away.
