We celebrated Melanie's birthday the night before her birthday at home with cake & presents, & then with a combined Easter dinner on Sunday with Grandma & Grandpa Coates. We left for Leavenworth on her actual birthday (the 21st) - so are giving her an extra celebration today. Grandma Broderick is here & Grandma & Grandpa Coates were going to come up too (except it snowed & our roads are bad - so I don't think they'll be able to make it.) Melanie also got a palm computer (that Don got at the same place he bought Courtney's). Her & Courtney are becoming quite the little game addicts. They love to just play games on the palm computers. She got a leap frog, & an i-dog too. She got a beautiful 'American Girl' type horse for her 'American Girl' type doll that she got at Christmas. She had asked Grandma for that at Christmas. When she opened that gift she was so excited. Then a few minutes later she asked Grandma, "Where are my other two presents?" We couldn't understand what she meant, -- she explained- "Well Courtney got three presents from Grandma & Grandpa & I am suppose to get three too." We explained to her that they were different presents, her horse was very big & and a lot of pieces to it. So then she became fixated on finding on how much it had cost. Don had a long talk with her when we came home that night about being a gracious and polite receiver & having manners & that presents weren't the important things. Hopefully, next year she'll be a little more polite. Here some pictures of us at her birthday celebrations and some pictures of her 1st grade family music night that she had at her new school.
