For Halloween, we decided this year to do a family theme. Don was a bit leary about dressing up, but it was so much fun, that we've decided to do a theme every year. Don and I even came in 2nd place for Adult Costumes :)
So this year we're the Peter Pan Story (Don - Captain Hook, Me -Smee???, Courtney - Tiger Lily, Melanie - Wendy, Emma - Tinkerbell, and last but not least - Dayton - PeterPan).
We went to the church party (the kids love to go to this big community party on Halloween, they have about 10 big bounce houses, mazes, games, lots of treats, etc. - it is a huge production), however we figured since our ward has been split - we should go to the ward party to see old friends since we wouldn't be in the ward with them anymore - it would be nice to see everyone again. Our old ward just does a chili dinner and a trunk or treat (no games or fun things for the kids to do - which in my opinion they should do more games and fun stuff for the kids if they are doing it on Halloween) but after the dinner and the trunk or treat, we took the kids around the neighborhood trick or treating with some friends. There a neighborhood close to town (Prune Hill) and they go all out in decorating - so it was fun for all. The kids had so much candy - I think we lived on candy alone for a couple of weeks.

You guys look so great! We didn't end up dressing up this year but I hit the sales after halloween and bought us all cheap, CHEAP costumes for next year and I'm REALLY excited!
I want to do a family theme too. It's so much fun! Congrats on placing for your costumes! YOU ROCK! :)
