BRRRRRR!!

Well our excitement of the week was:... our heater went out in our 20ish degree weather. It went out last Wed.. (& we first thought we ran out of oil - but that wasn't it). All day Thursday & Friday our house was like 45ish - very cold. Luckily, I live with a handyman & Don tore apart the heater (which is only 2 yrs old), trying to figure out what was wrong. He thought it was the pump & to make a long story short was able to barely - by the skin of his teeth - find another pump Friday evening before all the stores closed. So he installed the new pump & Voila we had glorious heat again Friday night -- ahhhh. So many wonderful conveniences we have, that take for granted & we don't even think about until we don't have it. Anyways, we are glad to have our heat back on (67 is so much better than 47).
It snowed again - Saturday night & Sunday night - so I am snowed in again. And it is suppose to snow again tonight. Usually, I get snowed in about 5 times a year, but so far I have been snowed in 5 times just this month. It usually last about 3 days or so, before I can get out. It's just our long driveway & private road that traps me in. Once we get to the county road, it is plowed and it's fine to drive. If we were staying up here, I would definitely get a four-wheel drive vehicle. One time I was so sick of being stuck I actually went out and shoveled the road (which is about 700 feet -according to Don's calculations), so that was a two or so hour job. I don't know that I feel so motivated tomorrow to do that. Well, actually - I know it's not gonna happen.

Well, Dayton also was evaluated this week (for his delays in speech). Specialist evaluated him in all areas (social, cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, speech). He was at or above age level in all areas except speech. His receptive language wasn't so bad, but he was really low in his expressive (which wasn't a big surprise to me - since that is the reason I wanted to get him help). So they recommended a speech therapy session once a week with a SLP (Speech Lang Pathologist), & special preschool twice a week for speech. So we're adding that to our busy schedule (really the hard thing about going any where - is that we live 30 minutes or so from about everything). Well, I hope it can help him & help me to help him - it'll be nice to see(hear) him start to talk. Well, with this new addition to our busy schedule - I am thinking of dropping one of Courtney gym classes to 2 times a week instead of 3. Sometimes I also seriously debate if I should put the two older girls in full time school for the rest of this year (I am next year for sure), but I am trying to hang in there this year since they are already involved & enjoying their classes at Homelink (this debate goes through my mind daily - especially when I am doing homeschool with them & they are being grumpy, pokey or not focusing or when Dayton in screaming in the background).

Well, we had a dinner party at our home last night (Don's counselors & their families). It was a fun evening. We were all saddened when my friend, Simy, called from Utah to let us know that President Hinkley had just died. We were sad and in shock too. We knew he was getting older, but I guess we didn't expect it just then. I realized, really we are just sad for us because he has been a great leader and example to us and we will dearly miss him, but I know it is a happy time for him. He gets to be with his wife again, he has finished his test here on earth- it is a great time for him. But we will all miss him. I was reading his talks from general conference last night and crying - what a great man. I was talking to Don & saying I am sure there is rejoicing in the spirit world for him & I bet Dad is one of those rejoicing & welcoming the prophet home.

Well, that's about it for this week. Sorry no pictures to post at this time. We are in the process of switching cameras again -- Well maybe I'll steal some from Don's mom blog since she has some fun ones. (well I did steal/borrow them)

With no heater in the house, you should have house-swapped with mom and dad!!! Mom would have been in freezer heaven in 47 degrees! ;)
