Christmas Trip - Day 6, 7, & 8 (Jan 1 - 3)

I'm finally finishing the update about our Christmas Trip...

Jan 1st:
We took family pictures at the park and made ginger bread houses. This day flew by. Before we knew it, it was nearly over.

Making Gingerbread Houses!- What Fun!!

Jan 2nd:

We drove up to Gilbert to spend the day with Greg & Shelley. We went four-wheeling with them. It was a lot of fun!! I even drove Greg's Ranger which was really fun. The kids had fun riding as this was their first time four wheeling. Don had fun driving the ranger & the four wheeler. Jessica biffed it once, but luckily wasn't hurt. The weather was perfect. Everything was going great until the Pesky Park Ranger with a chip on his shoulder showed up. He was writing everyone tickets right & left. I'm not joking either, there were three different groups and he manage to write a ticket for someone in each group. Don was the "lucky one" in our group. He got a ticket for circling around in the staging area - well apparently it wasn't a staging area & the one minute he was off the trail circling around waiting for us all to come in - was just "tough luck" for us. He has to meet with the Judge on the phone in March... What fun for him.

Later, that night we went ice skating with Greg & Shelley & their neighbors who rented the ice skating rink for their daughter's birthday. We all had fun!! Don was Mr. Popularity that night as he was giving all the kids a spin on the ice. There seemed to be always a line of kids waiting for their turn with him. For all those who don't know - Don's family ice skated professionally for about 10 yrs or so & traveled around & did ice shows, so he is quite a natural pro on the ice. Don just skates with such grace & unfortunately all of my kids seem to take after me - so we clumsily skate around trying not to fall :) Then afterwards we ate Pizza & Cake with the birthday girl & her huge crowd of friends. Then we went back to Greg & Shelley's and watched a movie. Thanks for the fun day, Greg & Shelley!

Jan 3rd:
Mom bought tickets for everyone to see the Lion King at Gammage for Christmas. The costumes were amazing!! We really enjoyed the show & everyone had a really good time. Thank you, Mom for doing that for us!! After the show, most came back to Michael & Katie's house and Katie made some delicious food for us in .... what did Michael say - 2 minutes flat. We enjoyed visiting with everyone and decided not to leave that night as we were tired. We drove out to Ryan & Dana's place in Surprise and spent the night there.

Jan 4th-5th:
We got up early on the 4th and made the long drive home. We got home Jan 5th in the afternoon. Luckily, it was a very uneventful boring drive home (no flat tires, dead batteries, dead transmissions, sick kids, or any of the other adventures we have had before - thank goodness!!) We drove back up to snow (Yay!! & that's a very sarcastic Yay!). The kids missed school that day - & Don & I showered & then went to straight to bed & right to sleep - we were so dead. The kids all had energy as they weren't up all night - so they had a play day and watched movies and played with all their Christmas toys that day.

Well that was our trip. It was so wonderful to see & visit with everyone again. We love seeing everyone, what a wonderful family we have - We love you all & wished we lived closer!!
