Gosh- I can't believe another month has gone by (& we still don't have our house up for sale - but we are madly working on it still)---I am guessing that we probably won't sell until next year. We still want to get it up for sale this fall, but the market is slow-- so we tend to think we might not be able to sell until next spring & summer since more people tend to buy homes at that time rather than in the rainy season... we'll see what happens???
Anyway, besides working on the house what have we done?? The girls were involved with swim lessons this summer. Melanie & Courtney went to a swim camp. They had a lot of fun. They are improving a lot. They also did gymnastics all summer. We (as in especially me) all enjoyed having a break from homeschool this summer. School starts day after tomorrow. Mel & Courtney are doing class-link which is a 2 days per week school on Mon & Thurs (where they do science, social studies, & creative writing.) & I do the other subjects (reading, math, spelling, grammar, health, etc.) on Tues, Wed, & Fri at home. It's a very nice program that they have here in Camas so you can do homeschooling, but also get a break & the kids really enjoy their classes. Melanie went to school with Courtney in June for the last 4 days of school & loved it. She asks me about 5 -6 times each day "How many days until schools starts?" We are going to do an art & reading week this week for homeschool as a fun way to ease into the school year & get use to the schedule again.
Emma enjoys doing school too (as long as her sister do), she's a big parrot. If they are having fun, she loves it -- If they are bored & hate it, she hates it too. The other day she said the funniest thing. Melanie goes to Fun Club (which is for age 6 & older) while Emma & Dayton go to childcare (which is for younger kids) at the YMCA while I exercise. They all love it. However, last week they didn't have Fun Club one day, so Melanie had to go to child care. I asked Melanie how she liked childcare. She said, "All they have are baby toys, and the babies slobber on the toys & make them gross, (etc, etc, etc... huge long story--)". Well the next day when I go to drop off Emma she parrots the same story using Mel's exact words how she doesn't like child care because of the baby toys & how the baby's slobber all over the toys & make them gross, blah blah blah..." It was hilarious (for me anyways) to hear the exact same words coming out of her mouth.-- monkey see, monkey do -or in this case monkey hear, monkey say...
Dayton had his birthday this month. I can't believe he is two. He had a nice birthday party with the family. He got a lot of cars & he is in little boy heaven. He loves all of his cars. The following week we celebrated his birthday again & went to the zoo as a family. We saw all the typical stuff, but were also able to catch a bird show - which was really fun to see. Dayton is doing more signs now (than he did a few months ago), but still doesn't say much. His favorite sign is "more" -- which actually means to him "I want something - read my mind & guess what it is"-- If we guess what he wants, he laughs.

Last night, we surprised the kids & took them to the circus - the greatest show on earth. We didn't tell them where we were going. Actually, Don told them we had to go to his shop in Portland & do some work. They were pleasantly surprised. We had a great time there & everyone enjoyed it. We forgot to take our camera -- rats :( Anyways we saw all the typical circus stuff - trapeze, tight rope walking, dogs doing flips, elephants doing hand stands, human cannon ball, fun clown shows, etc. It was all very entertaining & like seeing everything for the first time, we enjoyed every minute of it & the kids were enthralled the whole time.
That's all I can think of for now. I will post more pictures later when I get them.
